It has a great history which counts back some 900 years. The location at the foot of the Black Forest, France and Switzerland nearby makes Freiburg starting point for numerous memorable excursions.  It has a mild climate: Freiburg is the warmest and sunniest city in Germany.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
 As a member of the International House World Group, it became one of the leading centres in Teacher Development and Teacher Training for German as a foreign language. The main interest  has  been to offer high quality teaching and
special services that make the students' stay both effective and enjoyable.
 

LOCATION
The study centre occupies a splendid neoclassical three-story building    in the centre of  the town, within a two minutes walk from the large pedestrian area and the university. It counts of 14 classrooms, self-study rooms, computer room with self-study software as well as access to e-mail and the Internet, apart from a social area with a cafeteria.

Trimester Course Structure:

Young people (18+), studying at university, college or in any other institute as well as students between study and work are welcome to this course. The examination ZD (lower intermediate level) and ZMP (upper intermediate level) can be prepared.

This course is divided into two parts which are taught by two different teachers. In the first two lessons, the emphasis is put on presentation and practice of German grammar. The grammatical structures are taught in the context of real-life situations. Furthermore, the emphasis is put on conversation and comprehension.


Lessons per week:          25, each lesson lasts 45 minutes.
Student group:                10 to 12, maximum 15
Levels:                            From total beginners (Grundstufe 1) to advanced (Mittelstufe II)
Minimum enrolment:        12 weeks
Starting dates:                 4 starting dates per year (January, April, July, October)
Exam preparation:           These courses also prepare for language entrance examinations to German Universities (DSH)
                                      and the ZMP (Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung) at the Goethe-Institut. 
Course times:                  Classes are held mostly in the morning 9.00 to 13.00 h), during summer also in  the afternoon
                                      (14.00 - 18.15 h)  .
Accommodation:             In nice, carefully selected German homestay families.
                                     
German at the teacher's home:
This is withouth doubt one of the most intensive, effective and individual courses. You live in your  teacher's home and study there.
You have a fixed number of hours each day of tuition (3-4).
You are fully immersed in a German-speaking environment.You will not only improve your ability to communicate in German and deal with work-related topics, but you will also learn something about the German way of life.
For this course it is essential that you send us as much information as possible about you and your aims before the  course starts. This will enable the teacher to tailor the appropriate course.

Summer Intensive Courses:
This course is divided into two parts which are taught by two different teachers.

Levels:                          From total beginners to advanced.
Minimum enrolment:       3 weeks (June: 2 weeks)
Starting dates:               June, July, August, Septembver (see dates and prices)
Accommodation:            In nice, carefully selected German families
 

The program includes:
  * Language course 25 classes of 45 min. each;
  * Evaluation test at the beginning of the course;
  * Certificate at the end of course;
  * Train journey (one way) between Freiburg and Berlin;
