*The Maltese Islands* The Maltese Islands are situated in the Mediterranean Sea, about 58 miles from Sicily and 180 miles from North Africa. They consist of Malta (99 sq miles) Gozo (22 sq miles) and Comino (1 sq mile). They are one of the oldest civilizations in the Mediterranean dating back to about 7000 years B.C. The population is around 350,000 and is homogeneous with its own identity and language. The official languages are Maltese and English with most of the people also fluent in Italian. Apart from the sea, Malta offers the visitor the hospitality of its people and a rich European island culture. Boasting prehistoric monuments and baroque architecture, Malta presents a journey through history. With high-street shopping and the latest discotheques for the young at heart, Malta pleasantly surprises the visitor even after disembarking. English is the main business language and is widely spoken. You will enjoy studying English and the mild mediterranean climate of this island. ST. JULIANS - touristic part of MALTA You may prefer a package programme that includes 20 h of English classes, accommodation, transfers and activities. Activities include water sports such as swimming, bowling, soccer.
